Another point worth mentioning about Las Vegas for visitors is the new direction towards chic luxury hotels away from the traditional themed resorts, with less emphasis on gaming: see the new Aria, Vdara and Mandarin Oriental hotels in City Center (check out $40m of public art installations around the complex). And of course, Wynn's ultra floral, sunny and luxurious Encore.

I recently visited these resorts and more for a feature for ttgluxury magazine - see what I found out here: http://paulrevel.wordpress.com/2010/03/25/whats-new-in-las-vegas/

I'm glad you had a good experience. This storm was the worst since 1969. It's wonderful to see how people pull together. The City of Big Bear Lake did an awesome job getting the streets plowed and organizing convoys of food and gas. All of the organizations; CSD, Fire, Caltrans, Sheriff, County etc. were very helpful in making sure we had an emergency facility. Some visitors did get stuck.
